We hope the following description will be helpful when considering whether the Mill House suits your access requirements. Please also refer to the floor plans or view our video tour. The conversion of the original building aimed to meet the needs of mobility-impaired guests by providing a ground floor accessible bedroom with ensuite shower room and level access to the kitchen, dining room and sitting room.
On arrival, there is parking for four cars within ten metres of the house, from where three easy-going steps lit by movement sensor lights lead down to the front door. If steps are difficult there is an alternative ramped path, which provides entirely step-free, paved access to the ground floor accommodation. The front door is step-free with a clear width of 75 cm and it leads into the 120 cm wide entrance hall. The ground floor accommodation is entirely level (except for the conservatory), and all doors have a clear opening width of at least 78 cm.
The large dining room has plenty of space around the table and a wide opening links through to the spacious kitchen. The sitting room, also directly off the dining room, is nearly eight metres long by five metres wide with easily-moved furniture. The conservatory opens off the sitting room with two steps up at the doorway and handrails at each side.
The accessible ground floor bedroom opens directly off the wide entrance hall opposite the dining room. Both the bedroom and its level-access ensuite shower room have room for a wheelchair to turn. A shower seat, raised toilet seat and adjustable height walking frame are available on request.
Going back outside, the main front lawn and outside seating area are accessible via the ramped path and parking area. The back door provides access to a smaller paved and flat lawned area, although there is a 15 cm high step at the doorway. We understand that clear information is essential for our guests. Hopefully the information above is sufficient but please contact us if you would like to know any more details about the house.
