Lindisfarne Bay Cottages Information
We are blessed to be located within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The AONB includes two National Nature Reserves - the FARNE ISLANDS (it's a pretty 20 minute drive to Seahouses where the boat trips depart from) and the LINDISFARNE NATURE RESERVE. As we are located on the water's edge we can proudly say that we are situated right in the middle of the Lindisfarne Reserve.
With the binoculars provided you can see the large seal colony on the sand bank that appears at low tide between us and Holy Island.
All year long a variety of waders and waterfowl (including shelducks, eider ducks, oyster catchers and curlews) can be seen from The Mill House's gardens and windows.
During the migratory season viewings of large flocks geese are often spectacular. The internationally important population of rose bellied brent geese overwinter almost exclusively on the waters outside The Mill House.
At dawn and dusk foxes and deer can often be seen in the surrounding fields and lanes, and sometimes along the foreshore.
A short car drive will bring you to the NORTHUMBERLAND NATIONAL PARK with its many attractions.
The Farne Islands with their puffins, kittiwakes, shags and cormorants can be accessed from Seahouses, 20 minutes away.
